Profile
The coffee is a very mild Robusta with notes of chocolate, nut and honey. An intense body and a spicy aftertaste. Robusta coffees are less exciting in taste than Arabicas, but are popular in blends because they give the coffee body and above all a nice crema. They also have significantly more caffeine than Arabicas.

Preparation
Robusta coffees are mainly used for espresso blends, they give the espresso body, take the acid and also have more caffeine than Arabica beans.
This is a very high quality Robusta. We therefore usually drink it as a single origin espresso.
Origin
This organic certified and fair trade Robusta (Canephora) comes from Karagwe in northwest Tanzania, near the border to Uganda and Rwanda. It is cultivated at 1200-1800 m.a.s.l. under shade trees, hand-picked and naturally processed in the sun.
The cooperative association Kaderes Peasants Development Plc was founded in 2008 by 34 members. At that time the producers sold their products at very low prices to local traders and middlemen. In the meantime, they have grown into a Fairtrade organisation with almost 4,000 members, 20% of whom are women. Most members are from Wanyambo, Wahaya and Wasubi. But also Wakiga, Wanyarwanda and Wahima, who had to flee from Rwanda and Uganda. They are dependent on the cultivation and export of goods such as coffee, bananas or beans, with coffee being their most important export commodity.
With the help of the Fairtrade premium, a primary school for 293 children was built. The cooperative also invests in the education of its members so that they know sustainable agricultural practices as well as individual financial rights and obligations.
In addition, the cooperative supports its members in improving the productivity and quality of their coffee as well as achieving higher prices for their coffee. Among other things, it has built two agro-education centres and 14 wells for the community.
