Preparation Methods
Ethiopia Yirgacheffe is a very sweet coffee. It has a strong character and therefore we recommend drinking it as a single origin or in an espresso mixture for some fruit and sweetness.
The coffee is perfect as cappuccino or flat white, as its sweetness and fruit are particularly well accentuated here. In addition, it works well for all filter preparations such as Chemex or Aeropress, as well as in summer as cold brew.
Origin
According to legend, Ethiopia is coffee’s country of origin. Above all, however, for many coffee lovers Ethiopian coffees are the first impressive experiences with speciality coffees. Naturally processed Yirgacheffe coffees are sweet and have distinctive berry-floral notes that are far removed from the coffees we are used to in everyday life. Yirgacheffes are the most spectacular and popular coffees for many coffee lovers.
This coffee is grown by small farmers in the Aricha region at an altitude of 1,800 - 2,400 metres above sea level. The coffee is grown as garden coffee by several family farms and hand-picked. This coffee is naturally processed and sun-dried on raised beds (African beds), which strongly emphasises the berry notes - in this coffee especially the strawberry notes.
The coffee is certified organic and sourced from fair direct trade.
Roasting Recommendation for Yirgacheffe Coffee
The coffee can be roasted from light (city) to darker (full city+). In the lighter roast, citrus notes are emphasized; in the darker roast, the chocolate is accentuated. Between city+ and full city lies the point where the sweetness is most pronounced.
You can find roasting profiles for this bean in the knowledge section: for Gene Café, for Hottop Manual, for Hottop with Artisan and for Aillio Bullet R1 V2.
Packaging
The green coffee is delivered in a transparent and resealable 1kg or 5kg Ecotact fresh bag or in a 15kg bag-in-box.
