Raimond Feil is a roaster and barista. In his practice-oriented book, he shares his experience from more than 12 years as a roaster of specialty coffees.
In simple and easily understandable language, the book provides the necessary tools and knowledge to successfully develop your own roasting profiles and to roast more consistently and with a clear plan. Raimond explains in the book the essential parameters of a roast and what influence these have on the taste and quality of the roast. In addition, he shares concrete roasting profiles in the book - on the one hand those he uses himself as a roaster of specialty filter coffees, but also very classic espresso profiles. He also goes into the subject of sample roasting and how to transfer profiles of a sample roasting to the production roaster. Of course, he also deals with green coffees, the right choice of coffees and the assessment of their quality, but nevertheless the focus of the book is on the roasting process and the roasting profiles.
The book is recommended for both beginners and experienced roasters. Even though some of the chapters are mainly relevant for professional roasters, there is enough valuable knowledge and concrete instructions, which are also very important for home roasters.
